Vintage Karting NZ is a club for Karting enthusiasts who have an interest in preserving and running Vintage Karts on tracks across the Country. VKNZ is affiliated to Kartsport NZ and became an Incorporated Society in 2014 having been formed by a group of like minded people who could see the value in saving NZ’s karting history and who wanted to share their interest in the sport.
By membership, we are one of the largest kart clubs in NZ and cater for members and drivers right across New Zealand by age and gender. Our members are keen to help each other in the pursuit of knowledge and history of the various karts in the VKNZ and also with advice on obtaining those hard to find parts to complete a project.
Our meetings are as much social events as having an opportunity to put ourselves and our karts through their paces. Under VKNZ and Kartsport NZ rules, we do not race but rather run under demonstration rules.
We mix the grids up to ensure compatible karts and driver skill levels are aligned and this is primarily about managing the safety and wellbeing of our members, as much as minimising the potential for karts to get damaged.
We don’t set limits on how fast or slow you want to go but we do keep a watching eye on driving standards to ensure everyone has the best possible experience on the track.
VKNZ is also a great place to experience karting in a relaxed format without the performance pressures that go with traditional kart club events. On occasion, some members will often attend a VKNZ meeting without their karts just to catch up with other members and socialise.
We have the cheapest membership and meeting fees of an NZ Kart Club so for those on a limited budget this helps with costs.
Please feel free to contact any of the VKNZ committee to find out more about VKNZ and what we have to offer.
